As the threads are so thin, a large amount of air is trapped in the fabric. To conserve this air and therefore its qualities, it is very important NOT to use a washing machine or dryer. 
Placing the garment in the sun after use helps to oxygenate it, exchanging the air trapped in the fabric, which will keep the garment in excellent condition. 
You can also use the dry cleaning option in dry cleaners.
